Lewisham set to improve energy efficiency in 800 council homes with 7.1million
Briefly

The Government's Warm Homes programme funding aims to retrofit up to 800 council homes, enhancing their energy efficiency and reducing operating costs. The retrofitting will focus on homes identified as experiencing low energy ratings and issues like damp and mould. This initiative, part of a larger 1.29 billion effort to retrofit social homes, is complemented by an additional 9.1 million investment from the council. The proposal also emphasizes training for local installers and aims to achieve broader climate action goals, while addressing housing inequalities through a comprehensive strategy.
This funding will make a real day-to-day improvement to the lives of council tenants by ensuring their homes are warmer and more energy-efficient.
The new round of funding allows us to make up to 800 council homes warmer, healthier, more energy-efficient and cheaper for council tenants to heat, which will considerably improve lives.
We aim to fully retrofit all homes in the borough to achieve climate action goals and reduce housing inequalities, with an estimated cost of 3.2 billion.
This investment is part of the Government's 1.29 billion Warm Homes Plan to retrofit social homes across the UK.
