The Prime Minister's plan to relocate 12,000 civil servants from London aims to save £94 million by 2032 while decentralizing decision-making closer to communities across the UK. With 11 Whitehall offices set to close and move to cities like Belfast, York, and Leicester, the initiative also emphasizes supporting local economic growth. Union leaders stress that protections for current London-based employees are crucial, highlighting the need for no compulsory redundancies and greater access to flexible work options to ensure success of the relocations.
