Labour launches ads in Reform-style branding to boast about deportations
Briefly

Labour has launched a campaign featuring Reform-style advertising to counter its rise among voters disillusioned by the Tory government. These ads highlight government deportation efforts without clear Labour branding, aiming to appeal to Labour voters considering a shift towards Reform. However, this strategy has drawn criticism from within the party, with concerns about increased tension affecting asylum seekers. Key figures argue that this move might replicate past government failures regarding asylum and human rights.
The Tories and Reform offer nothing but weasel words, while this Labour government gets on with fixing the asylum system, which the Tories broke.
I would caution the party against raising such community tensions when we know there are so many asylum seekers who have experienced persecution in their lives.
It is seriously worrying that the government seems set on repeating the mistakes of the past under both Conservative and Labour leadership.
