Just Stop Oil (JSO) protesters marched in London for what they called their "last day of action," after the group claimed success in its campaign to halt new oil and gas licenses. Having initially announced an end to direct actions, JSO touted that their demands had become government policy. Despite achieving these goals, Labour has distanced itself from the group, with the Prime Minister criticizing their methods. Recent judicial rulings have further halted various fossil fuel projects in the UK, supporting JSO's claims about their influence on policy.
In its March statement announcing the end of direct action, the group said: "Just Stop Oil's initial demand to end new oil and gas is now government policy, making us one of the most successful civil resistance campaigns in recent history."
Last month JSO announced it would stop direct action and announced it had won its demand to end new oil and gas.
