Barnaby Thompson, a first-time filmmaker at Ealing Studios in 1997, is now a co-owner commencing an extensive renovation of the historic studio. Founded in 1902, Ealing Studios is the world's oldest working film studio, famous for producing notable comedies and shows from the late 20th century. Despite facing modern competition by 2000, Thompson, teamed with the Manhattan Loft Corporation, invested to restore the studios' charm and legacy, acknowledging its rich cultural history and ideal location despite its smaller size compared to other studios.
The first time I had been on that hallowed ground... nearly three decades on, the film director and producer is a co-owner of the studios.
Ealing may lack the scale of Pinewood and Shepperton, but benefits from good links to Heathrow and central London.
I grew up with the Ealing movies, it was a fabulous fantasy to own the studio.
The ageing studios were struggling to compete against modern rivals.
