Grenfell Tower: seven organisations face debarment from government contracts
Briefly

In response to the Grenfell Tower disaster, the government is enforcing stricter building safety regulations by accepting the inquiry's findings. Seven organizations linked to the tragedy face potential debarment from government contracts. A single construction regulator will be established, and fire safety oversight will be centralized under the Ministry of Housing. Additionally, there will be revisions to fire safety guidance, higher-risk building definitions, and liability penalties for manufacturers. The government accepted 49 out of 58 recommendations from the inquiry report to enhance accountability and safety.
The government has accepted the findings of the final Grenfell Tower inquiry report and pledged to take action on all the recommendations.
Debarment investigations will be launched for seven organisations named in the report using measures under the Procurement Act.
