Gardai seek arson suspect as man (60s) remains in serious condition in Sligo University Hospital
An arson incident at an apartment in Lyons Terrace, Sligo began around 8am on Monday April 27th and caused hundreds of thousands of euro in damage. A man in his 60s woke to the fire, and an altercation occurred between him and a suspect at the front door. The suspect swung a bottle, leaving the man with a broken hip and a head injury. Gardaí and fire services rescued two people from the building. Garda Michael Connolly and Garda David Stenson entered the smoke-filled building and brought the injured man to safety via a rear fire escape. The suspect, wearing a Guns and Roses t-shirt, was captured on CCTV from inside the apartment block and is described as about 5'11" with an Irish accent and a goatee-type beard.

There was an altercation between the suspect and the man in his 60s, at the front door of his apartment. The suspect is seen swinging a bottle at the man who sustained a broken hip and a head injury in the incident."

The man is in a serious condition in hospital following the incident."
"Superintendent Tom Colsh made an appeal on RTE's Crimecall on Monday night for witnesses or anyone who may know the suspect to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 9157000. The suspect was seen drinking alone in the Swagman on Wine Street on the Sunday night. After the incident, the suspect was picked up on CCTV on the Inner Relief Road."
