Firefighters shut West Hampstead road after lightning strikes building

On March 22, 2025, firefighters responded to a lightning strike at a shop with apartments above on West End Lane, West Hampstead. The London Fire Brigade was notified about a burning smell amidst heavy rain and thunder. Crews arrived at 3.22 PM, inspected the roof using a 32-meter turntable ladder, and found no active fire but did address roof damage by removing loose masonry. The operation was concluded by 4.30 PM, ensuring the area was safe from further hazards. Fire stations from Willesden, Kentish Town, and Paddington participated in the response.
