Feriz Mehmood, a landlord in east London, has been fined more than £16,000 after multiple safety breaches in a rental property. The house, occupied by ten residents including four children, posed severe fire risks and had inadequate kitchen facilities. Havering Council discovered that Mr. Mehmood failed to address cockroach infestations and did not ensure smoke detectors were operational. He pleaded guilty to 16 violations of HMO license conditions and faces strict repercussions designed to deter irresponsible landlords and safeguard tenant living conditions.
Mr. Mehmood was fined a total of £16,027.89 after being found guilty of serious safety violations in his rental property, including severe cockroach infestation.
Havering Council will aggressively pursue negligent landlords, insisting they maintain safe living conditions and comply with licensing requirements to protect residents.
