"The sentence was unduly lenient. We quash it, and we quash the minimum term order that the judge made, and substitute in its place a whole life order, which means that the offender will never be released."
"The couple had been in a relationship for about four months, during which time March attacked her and stopped her from talking to family and friends."
"Odysseos was heard to say: 'I don't want to kill my baby.' She was later seen outside the property, bleeding from multiple stab wounds."
A man was sentenced to a whole life order for murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Alana Odysseos, who was stabbed 19 times. The Court of Appeal ruled his previous sentence was unduly lenient. The offender, who had a prior murder conviction, initially pleaded guilty to manslaughter but later admitted to murder. The couple had a tumultuous relationship, with arguments about the pregnancy leading up to the fatal attack. Odysseos was found bleeding outside her flat, and despite attempts to save her, she died.
