Cutty Sark DLR station to close for nearly a year to replace its escalators
Briefly

Cutty Sark station on the DLR in Greenwich will close on May 31, 2025, for nearly a year due to necessary escalator replacements. The current escalators, which have been unreliable since the station’s transfer to TfL, were first installed by the PFI that funded the station. TfL has determined that the escalators must be completely replaced to ensure proper functionality. During the closure, passengers are advised to use Greenwich station, which is within walking distance. TfL is enhancing signage to assist visitors during this transition period.
"We know Cutty Sark's escalators have been causing disruption and frustration for our customers and we would like to thank them for their patience during this period."
"Replacing escalators at this station will also be complicated because of how they were installed when the station opened, and that replacing all four at the same time is the best way to minimise disruption to customers."
