Festivals at Brockwell Park in south London will continue as planned this summer, despite a High Court ruling against Lambeth Council over park usage. Local resident Rebekah Shaman challenged the council, arguing that using park land for more than 28 days annually requires special consent. The court found that the council's approval for 37 days was unlawful, but this ruling does not impact the festival schedule, which begins on May 23. Lambeth Council is considering a new application for 24 days of usage, allowing summer events to proceed as anticipated.
Brockwell Live can confirm that all events in the series will go ahead as planned, including the Lambeth Country Show. No event will be cancelled.
The council is urgently considering that application. That consideration does not stop the events proceeding.
