Bolt to the blue as Labour councillor defects to Conservatives
Briefly

Cllr Shiva Tiwari announced he is leaving the Labour Party to join the Conservatives after nearly seven years. In his statement, he criticized Labour's shift away from core values, which he believes are essential for economic growth and effective public services. He asserted that Camden Labour's assurance in its majority has led to a lack of democratic debate, yielding poor service management. His defection comes after a contentious council vote where he abstained, and he plans to stand as a Conservative candidate in the local elections next May. Labour counters his claims, pointing out his low participation in recent group activities.
Sadly the Labour Party has over several years moved away from the principles that matter to me such as supporting family values, hard work, aspiration, cohesion, a vibrant private sector and good public services.
At the same time, Camden Labour has become so assured in its majority and defensive in its positions that we no longer have any democratic debate, just worsening services in areas like rubbish collection, roads and housing maintenance.
To be fair, I don't think regular group attendees would recognise that there is no debate' on issues and policies.
Cllr Tiwari will now stand as a Conservative candidate in the local elections next May.
