Bid to lift Dublin Airport passenger cap delayed for a year for noise assessments
Briefly

Local councillors learned that the Aircraft Noise Competent Authority (ANCA) will conduct a noise assessment on Dublin Airport Authority's (DAA) planning application to raise the passenger cap from 32 million to 36 million. DAA believes this assessment is unnecessary, as similar concerns were previously addressed. While the development is critical for airlines like Ryanair and Aer Lingus, delays may extend growth plans for up to a year. A separate DAA application aims to raise the cap to 40 million passengers, while Fingal County Council also considers other infrastructure projects.
The decision to conduct another noise assessment for our 'no build' operational application to increase the cap to 36 million passengers is unnecessary as these matters have been previously addressed by ANCA.
This decision, will, once again, prolong the timeline involved in addressing this critical issue. While there is no clear statutory timeline set out for this additional review by ANCA, it will at a minimum add several months.
