About time? Hour hand returned to Cambridge University after 1930s prank
Briefly

Trixie Baker returned an hour hand from a chapel clock that her father, Geoffrey Hunter Baker, had taken as a prank in the 1930s at Gonville & Caius College. This act of mischief involved replacing the clock hands with cardboard, which ultimately failed during rain. The college’s archivist welcomed the hand back, highlighting the importance of student pranks as a part of college history. The story dates back to her father's time at the college from 1934 to 1937. The companion minute hand, however, is still missing.
The college archivist, James Cox, expressed his delight, saying, 'I was delighted to welcome Trixie to the college and to receive the clock hand. It now resides in the college archive alongside other tales of student pranks... Learning of student escapades is part of the college's long and varied history.'
Trixie Baker returned her father's clock hand, revealing a connection to a prank over 80 years ago. 'The minute hand remains missing,' she noted.
