A look at Louisville's downtown struggle
Briefly

Louisville has experienced slow progress in bringing workers back downtown since the pandemic. As of now, there are more employees in the area compared to 2021, but the return is gradual and doesn't reach pre-pandemic levels. Efforts continue to encourage foot traffic; however, the final choice lies with employers. Additionally, the city is working on converting some of the over 20% vacant office spaces into alternate uses. Despite potential issues raised by recent parking fee increases, these are not seen as significant barriers to returning to work downtown.
At this point, a little over 20% of downtown office space is vacant. There's a program to convert some of those empty spaces.
We obviously want the foot traffic, but it's the employer's decision, and they have to be the ones who decide what they want their employees to do.
