A weather warning is in effect from 12PM to 10PM, predicting scattered thunderstorms with potential flooding and disruptions. The Met Office anticipates intense rainfall amounts of 20-30mm in under an hour and possibly 40-50mm in some areas. Thunderstorms may cause hazardous conditions for drivers, train and bus delays, and possible power cuts. People are urged to secure outdoor items and monitor weather updates due to the risk of lightning and hail. Warm temperatures of up to 24C will accompany the storms before gradually easing in the evening.
The Met Office has warned that rain could be intense for short periods, with 20-30mm falling in less than an hour, and 40-50mm in one or two hours in some areas.
If you find yourself outside and hear thunder, the Met Office advises finding a safe enclosed shelter, such as a car. Do not shelter under or near trees.
