Wolf Alice Unveil New Single "The Sofa"
Briefly

Wolf Alice has released a new single titled "The Sofa," the second release from their upcoming studio album, The Clearing, set for August 29th. The track is a piano-driven ballad showcasing the introspection of singer Ellie Rowsell as she contemplates her life and unrealized dreams. The song emphasizes acceptance of one’s circumstances, along with the conflicting aspects of life as a band member. The band will support the album with a North American tour beginning September 10th and concluding on October 13th in Los Angeles.
The song is a self-reflective piano-powered ballad, with singer Ellie Rowsell singing about finding her peace, despite unrealized plans: "Didn't make it out to California/ Where I thought I might clean the slate/ Feels a little like I'm stuck in Seven Sisters/ North London, oh England/ And maybe that's ok."
Rowsell explained in a press statement, "It's about not trying so hard to figure everything out, reflecting on getting older and trying not to agonize over things that have or haven't happened in your life."
The song encapsulates the contrast between significant life moments and simple pleasures, as exemplified by one's home life after a big tour: "...you come home, and you have your dinner on the sofa."
Rowsell reflects on her early viewing habits, stating, "I used to never watch the same thing twice because I thought I've got so much to discover! And now I'm like, It's okay if I just want to rewatch Peep Show for the thirteenth time."
