Vince Clarke Launches New Analog Synth Covers Project
""I knew so little about some of these songs that they were like demos to me. They felt like brilliant new songs that you want to get your hands on.""
""I've had people do cover versions of my songs and honestly there's no better tribute. So that's what we wanted to do here.""
Doublespeak is a new covers project featuring Vince Clarke, Neil Arthur, and Benge. The album includes analog synth renditions of songs by ABBA, the Carpenters, Young Marble Giants, and the Magnetic Fields. It will be released on May 29 by London Records. Clarke expressed that many of the songs felt like new demos to him, inspiring a desire to reinterpret them. He emphasized the value of cover versions as a tribute to original artists. Clarke's recent works include his first solo LP, Songs of Silence, and Erasure's albums Day-Glo and its companion.
