On Saturday, Londoners flocked to parks for a partial solar eclipse, a rare event where the Moon partially obscures the Sun. The eclipse, visible until 12.14 p.m., peaked at 11.03 a.m. Coverage differed across the UK, peaking at 47.9% in north-west Scotland and dropping to 28.1% in Dover. Meteorologists suggested using filtered lenses or eclipse glasses for safe viewing, especially amidst varying cloud cover. Despite optimism for clear skies in southeast England, rain and clouds might hinder the eclipse experience for some.
The further north west you are in the UK the more of an eclipse you are likely to have, whereas towards the south east it's a little bit less.
The unfortunate thing is across the South East you're only going to see about 30% of that eclipse, whereas further north west you could see about 50 per cent.
