"After members of the St. Cassian High School chamber choir perish while riding The Cyclone, they awake in limbo. Their spirit guide (a mechanical fortune teller automaton named The Amazing Karnak) invites each one to tell their life story in an effort to win the greatest prize of all, a chance to return."
"What makes a life well lived? Is it money, fame and success? Is it the lives touched along the way? Everyone can agree it's not dying in a freak rollercoaster accident. However, that's exactly what happens to six Canadian teenagers in the dark comedy musical, Ride the Cyclone."
Ride the Cyclone is a dark comedy musical following six members of a high school chamber choir who perish in a freak rollercoaster accident. Upon awakening in limbo, they encounter The Amazing Karnak, a mechanical fortune teller automaton serving as their spirit guide. The automaton invites each teenager to share their life story, with the ultimate prize being a chance to return to the living. Through their narratives, the play explores what constitutes a life well lived, questioning whether success, fame, and money matter more than the relationships and lives touched along the way. The production runs at Mountain View Center for the Arts.
