Ezra Collective Shares New Song, Details New Album and Tour
Ezra Collective will release Here Because Of Hope on September 18 via Partisan. The jazz quintet shared a preview track, “Only Love,” featuring British-Gambian rapper Pa Salieu, along with a lively music video. The album is their first since Dance, No One’s Watching in 2024. It includes contributions from Leona Lewis, Jamaican singer Lila Iké, Cameroonian singer Libianca, and Black Panther actress Letitia Wright. The project draws on Black diaspora genres such as calypso, afrobeat, and grime. Drummer Femi Koleoso said the album was conceived after reflecting on Black genres where the story is painful, and writing in anticipation of hope and change.

"According to drummer Femi Koleoso, the album was conceived after the band considered the many "Black genres where the story is painful." "And we came up with hope. It's the hope that one day this pain will change and take me to that place. So we're going to write in anticipation of that place.""
