"Only two establishments from London were included in the original 20-strong list of best fish and chip shops in the UK. This might not be surprising as standards for a proper battered cod and chunky chips are not what you'd expect in the capital. But Stone Fish and Chips in Acton and Brockley's Rock in, well, Brockley, were nominated as the best of the bunch."
"Since 2014, the Brockley Road staple has been admired by local residents for its golden crisp fish, perfectly salted chips and sustainable menu, as well as its vegan and gluten-free options. Prices are reasonable too. A battered cod costs £10.30, and regular chips are £3.60. As the competition heats up, Brockley's Rock will face a surprise visit by an industry expert as well as answer questions in an interview with a panel of judges."
Brockley's Rock from SE4 has advanced to the final ten of the 2026 National Fish and Chip Awards after previously being named the best chippy in London. The national shortlist now includes businesses from northern England, Scotland and southern England. Brockley's Rock has been popular since 2014 for its golden battered fish, well-salted chips, sustainable menu and vegan and gluten-free choices. Prices are modest, with a battered cod at £10.30 and regular chips at £3.60. The finalist will receive an expert surprise visit and face a judges' interview assessing flavour, freshness and customer service.
