Witches in Britches, the last theatre restaurant in Melbourne, is known for its gothic atmosphere that invites both staff and customers to embrace their true selves. The venue, decorated with skulls and bats, offers unique comedy and burlesque performances. Tragically, after 35 years of operation, the restaurant is set to close at the end of 2028 due to plans for demolition by new owners. Employee Salem takes pride in the venue's inclusive environment, while founder Maritzio Termine reflects on its rich history and unique storytelling in shows.
Salem, an employee, remarked, "I just love interacting with the customers, sometimes scaring them as well, that's probably the highlight of my week."
Maritzio Termine expressed pride in the venue's legacy, stating, "I am very proud to be the last theatre restaurant left standing in Melbourne - there's a lot of history to it."
