"We know customers are looking forward to travelling on these new trains, and we will provide a further update in the spring, with the trains being reintroduced by summer. Our engineers, together with CAF and our franchisee KeolisAmey Docklands, have worked tirelessly to ensure they return safely and reliably."
"TfL took them off the line as a precautionary measure after one of them travelled past its intended stopping point at Canning Town station while it was raining. Since then, TfL has been working closely with the manufacturer of the trains to figure out and fix the root cause of the fault."
"Once all 54 trains are in business, they'll boost the DLR's overall capacity by 50 percent. There will be some network closures in the coming months in order for the trains to be tested on the line."
Three new DLR trains featuring air conditioning and USB ports were introduced in October but withdrawn after one overshot Canning Town station during rain. TfL identified a braking system fault and worked with manufacturer CAF to update the braking software for improved wet weather performance. Following testing, the complete fleet of 54 trains will be reintroduced starting summer. Once fully operational, these trains will increase DLR capacity by 50 percent and offer passengers enhanced space, accessibility, real-time travel information, and air conditioning. Network closures are planned for testing purposes.
