Shoreditch is set to become a leading al fresco dining area in London with the introduction of pedestrian-only zones on Rivington and Redchurch Streets. This initiative, part of the Mayor's new Summer Streets Fund, will allow dining until midnight on weekends and offers free licenses for outdoor dining for local businesses for the first three months. The £300,000 scheme, promoted by Mayor Sadiq Khan, aims to enhance London's hospitality industry, revitalizing the leisure and tourism sectors. This program is expected to foster vibrant community spaces for both locals and visitors during the summer.
I'm delighted to announce the first of many new al fresco hotspots across the capital to help Londoners and visitors make the most of our summer this year.
There's no place like London in the summer and this announcement will provide a fantastic opportunity for people to enjoy our incredible restaurants, pubs and bars.
