Sharmilee, Leicester: It really is worth your time' restaurant review
Briefly

After 26 years, Sharmilee in Leicester remains committed to its exceptional vegetarian Indian cuisine, now with a refreshed decor that enhances the dining experience. The restaurant’s hallmarks include impressive dishes like chaat, dark aubergine curry, and new potatoes in tomato masala, all served with warm dosa. The author reflects on the restaurant's long-standing history, noting that it is the only survivor from their first six reviews. This visit marks a sentimental return for the author as they bid farewell through their last column for the Observer.
The upstairs dining room at Sharmilee has transformed since my last visit 26 years ago, yet it offers exceptionally good value vegetarian Indian food I adore.
I experienced a melt-in-mouth dark aubergine curry and a lightly sour potato masala with impeccable dosa, which I couldn't finish alone, leaving some for my family.
