Rail passengers could be overcharged for weeks
Briefly

Train passengers on c2c services from Essex to London have been warned about potential overcharging until late June. A technical issue is causing contactless payment users to incur an extra £3 per trip. The train operator will automatically refund affected passengers and expects to resolve the issue by June 29. The problem specifically affects journeys to or from stations outside Zone 6, starting from Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street in London. Transport for London is collaborating with c2c to address the concern, with refund payments starting over the weekend.
Transport for London (TfL) has been working with c2c to resolve the issue, which was first reported on Wednesday.
The first round of refund payments would be made over the weekend, c2c added.
Commercial director Eleni Jordan said a "technical issue" was causing the overpayments.
Only journeys to or from stations outside Zone 6 - and that started at either Fenchurch Street or Liverpool Street in London - have been affected.
