Transport for London has proposed a new Superloop bus service SL11, connecting North Greenwich, Woolwich, Thamesmead, and Abbey Wood with a more direct route that aims to improve journey times and connectivity. The SL11 will have a reduced number of stops but will maintain connections with other transport services. Night service N472 will remain unchanged. While the new service will offer increased frequency during the week and weekends, approximately 10% of current route 472 users may face longer journeys due to necessary transfers.
The proposed SL11 bus route aims to create direct journey links, enhancing connectivity between North Greenwich, Woolwich, Thamesmead, and Abbey Wood, improving overall travel times.
Transport for London has acknowledged that some passengers might experience longer journeys as they may need to change buses if their stop is not served by the SL11.
Despite the proposed benefits of the SL11, TfL has admitted that about one in ten current route 472 users will need to switch buses post-implementation.
The new express SL11 service will operate seven days a week, significantly increasing frequency during peak times and incorporating connections with other major transport services.
