Multiple police cordons are still in place after a fatal crash on a busy road in Hackney. The incident between a lorry and a pedestrian happened in Mare Street at around 11am today (March 3). Officers and London Ambulance Service crews attended and found a woman injured.
Despite the efforts of officers and paramedics, sadly the female pedestrian died at the scene. Her next of kin are yet to be informed.
Mare Street is closed between Morning Lane and A1207 Graham Road as the incident is being dealt with. Bus routes 30, 38, 55, 106, 242, 253, 254, 276 and 277 are also on diversion.
A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: Police were called at about 11am on Monday, 3 March to reports of a lorry in collision with a pedestrian on Mare Street in Hackney.
