Metropolitan line services cut during first week of June for major signalling upgrade
Briefly

In June, the London Underground will reduce peak-hour Metropolitan train services as it transitions to a new signalling system designed to enhance train frequency on the subsurface network. This system replaces an outdated control method and marks a significant upgrade, scheduled for completion after the switchover on the weekend of 31st May and 1st June. Following this, adjustments will be made, including required pauses in services in the Preston Road area, to accommodate the new system until the upgrade extends further.
There will be fewer peak hour services operating on the Metropolitan line for the first week of June as the new signalling system is implemented.
The entire subsurface network is close to completing a major upgrade of the signalling system, allowing more trains to run along the lines.
The final switchover for the new signalling system will occur over the weekend of 31st May and 1st June, causing closures on several lines.
From Monday 2nd June, Metropolitan line services will pause momentarily near Preston Road as drivers switch between signalling systems, continuing until year-end.
