A 21-year-old man was convicted of criminal damage after attacking a City of London Police vehicle outside Bishopsgate Police Station in the early hours of 3 May. CCTV footage showed him lying across the car while friends took photos, then eating a takeaway meal from the bonnet. He kicked the vehicle twice and ripped off a wing mirror, leaving the car unusable for five days. He fled after being spotted but was caught by two officers following a chase. At Westminster Magistrates' Court, he was ordered to pay £200 compensation, a £480 fine, £85 in costs, and a £192 surcharge. Police said the actions were unnecessary and childish and that similar behavior would be met with justice.
