Get ready to sweat!' The animal mega-marathon stampeding from the Congo to the Arctic
Briefly

The Herds, inspired by the previous project Little Amal, involves a major performance with life-size animal puppets trekking 20,000 km from the Congo Basin to the Arctic Circle. Artistic director Amir Nizar Zuabi initiated this project after listening to stories of climate refugees in Italy. He emphasizes that the climate crisis, which threatens to create millions of refugees by 2050, is a call for action. The initiative aims to disturb our indifference, urging societies to acknowledge the looming hunger and displacement caused by climate change.
In 2021, Little Amal, the puppet of a refugee child almost 4m tall, walked from the Syria-Turkey border to the UK, inspiring a new performance initiative.
Artistic director Amir Nizar Zuabi reflects that the world is collapsing due to climate crises, which are predicted to create 1.2 billion refugees by 2050.
