The government's shortlist of five designs for the memorial honoring Queen Elizabeth II has been unveiled. This memorial will be situated in St James's Park, celebrating the late monarch's legacy. The public can provide feedback on these concepts, which include designs featuring the Queen on horseback, along with additional elements like voice recordings and symbolic structures. The winning design will be selected later this year, with a budget ranging from £23 million to £46 million, to create a significant new landmark in London.
Three of the five proposed designs feature the late Queen riding a horse, reflecting her lifelong enthusiasm for equestrianism.
The new memorial will be placed not too far from statues of the late Queen's parents, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
