Estate residents get exemption from low traffic zone after being 'cut off'
Briefly

The Bruce Grove West Green Low Traffic Neighbourhood (LTN) has become a point of focus as Haringey Council allows some residents, particularly from the Broadwater Farm Estate, exemptions through traffic filters. With only 41% of households owning cars, the council aims to balance equitable access with traffic reduction objectives. Council members emphasized the hardships faced by residents navigating around the LTN, especially for essential services. The change introduces permits for household access to ease mobility while preserving LTN goals.
Only 41% of Broadwater Farm households owned a car, this measured exemption benefited those who needed it most without undermining traffic reduction objectives.
Ultimately it's very difficult if you're on the southern side of Broadwater Farm to go south towards Philip Lane, it’s the greatest journey of anyone living in an LTN.
Residents on this specific estate have been almost inadvertently cut off by this LTN because they can't get to South Tottenham.
The purpose of this paper is essentially to balance both equity and access demand with the ability to keep the purpose of the LTN intact.
