Cutty Sark DLR station reopening date confirmed as works finish ahead of schedule
"We're delighted to announce that an improved Cutty Sark station will reopen earlier than expected on Monday 23 March, ready to welcome customers back through newly modernised and more reliable station facilities. These improvements will make a real difference to customer journeys and support the continued growth and vibrancy of the Greenwich area."
"During the closure, four new heavy-duty escalators were installed and are currently undergoing reliability testing ahead of the reopening. While the station was closed, TfL has also carried out a broader programme of upgrades to improve the overall station environment. These include installing a faster lift to replace the old slow lift, installing energy-efficient LED lighting throughout the station, and upgrading safety systems, including a new fire detection system."
"The station interior has also been refreshed with new bright white wall coverings to improve light levels, alongside a deep clean of public areas. Above the upper pair of escalators, the ceiling has been raised to create a more spacious space. As part of the refurbishment, new artwork celebrating the local area has also been installed in collaboration with Visit Greenwich."
