A significant regeneration proposal for Waterloo Station is being spearheaded by Network Rail, Lambeth Council, and Places for London. The project includes the creation of a new southern concourse by opening up boarded-up railway arches and expanding the northern concourse. Plans also entail improvements in pedestrian space, new cycling and walking routes, an upgraded interchange for buses and taxis, and enhanced green spaces. Funding will be sourced from public and private sectors, with the project expected to generate approximately 10,000 new jobs in the area.
The collaboration agreement we've signed today paves the way for a transformation of both Waterloo station and the surrounding neighbourhood.
We will work with neighbouring partners to deliver a regeneration plan that unlocks huge growth and investment opportunities across the borough.
