Blast from the Past! Southeastern revives the iconic Network SouthEast livery
Briefly

Southeastern celebrated the Railway 200 anniversary by restoring the Network SouthEast (NSE) livery on a Class 465 train. Originally established in 1986, NSE was distinguished by its red, white and blue color scheme, aimed at enhancing service quality and attracting commuters. A collaboration between Southeastern, Angel Trains, Wabtec, and Creactive designers enabled this nostalgic restoration, with necessary modifications for compliance with modern accessibility standards. The specially repainted train, unit number 465908, will operate in regular service, participate in charity events, and promote Railway 200 activities, bringing back a classic look from the 1990s.
Returning the modern train to its 1990s livery involved a team from Southeastern, Angel Trains, Wabtec, and Creactive designers. Although technical drawings of the NSE livery were available, they were missing some details that would be expected on modern drawings.
The aim was to provide a recognisable brand for customers, improve service quality and grow ridership. A key catalyst for this transformation was the introduction of the Class 465, 'Networker' fleet which first entered passenger service in 1992 and are still going strong today.
