"Two individuals were taken to the hospital, with a significant emergency response underway. The London Fire Brigade deployed aerial water towers to combat the heavy flames and smoke," reported Station Commander Alan Bendell.
Dinesh Raj, whose daughter was in the tower when the fire started, shared that his child and her friends were initially 'terrified' but became 'calm' as they were evacuated. Their quick escape was crucial.
Authorities had been removing cladding from the Spectrum building shortly before the fire broke out, raising alarms about fire safety measures. The cause remains under investigation.
