The alleged rape took place on February 4, 2017, in Tower Hamlet's Kingsland Green, but it was only reported to detectives on August 19 this year.
The victim is being supported by specialist officers, as detectives follow up several lines of enquiry related to the reported incident.
Detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak to regarding the incident, seeking public assistance for information.
