This popular north London lido is getting knocked down
Briefly

North London's Finchley Lido Leisure Centre, which has been famous for its wave machine since opening in 1931, is closing down as deemed unfit for purpose by Barnet Council.
The closure includes the wider Great North Leisure Park, but redevelopment plans feature a replacement leisure center, 1,500 new homes, 2,000 square meters of commercial space, and relocation of the cinema and bowling alley.
Despite the emotional attachment to Finchley Lido, locals are encouraged to engage in the consultation process for the new development, aiming to create a leisure center that promotes health, well-being, and community bonding.
Developer Regal is set to submit the redevelopment plans for Finchley Lido and Great North Leisure Park and plans to organize a public conference for discussions, with updates to follow.
