The newly released cycle map by graphic designer Helen Ilus provides a comprehensive guide to London's cycling routes connected to parks and waterways. This innovative map addresses challenges faced by cyclists, such as unsafe junctions and missing lanes. Ilus's project began in 2020 with the London Greenground Map and has evolved to include over a thousand green spaces. The latest edition encourages a more enjoyable cycling experience, promoting green commutes and leisure routes, showcasing a network that beautifully integrates nature with urban cycling.
Ilus explained, 'I hope this map encourages cyclists to green their commutes or explore new routes for leisure cycling. Cycling is growing increasingly popular everywhere, but many of the cycle paths are not particularly green or enjoyable to cycle.'
Ilus noted, 'Since I released the original map five years ago, it has grown significantly, now featuring over a thousand green spaces,' which highlights the extensive efforts made to enhance the cycling experience in London.
