Thames Water bypassing local opposition in attempt to launch water recycling project

Steve Barclay, the secretary of state for environment, food and rural affairs, has agreed to an application by the water company to consider its Teddington water recycling scheme under national infrastructure rules.
The decision means local authorities will be bypassed, and the secretary of state will make the decision whether to grant a development consent order.
