TfL 'working to establish what happened' after bus crashes into Hampstead pub garden
Briefly

A bus drove into the tree and he (the driver) claimed his brakes had stopped working. There's been some damage to the side of the pub but no one was hurt. It was quite a loud bang and everyone was scared but concerned for the driver.
The pub staff described the poor weather on the day of the crash as a "saving grace", as there were no customers outside on the patio when the double decker came off the road.
We are aware that a bus collided with a tree in South End Green on January 1 at 1pm. Thankfully, no one was injured, though we understand this may have been distressing for those involved and support is available.
Emergency services were called to reports of a crash in South End Road just after 1.20pm. A double decker bus had hit a tree outside The Garden Gate before veering into the pub garden.
