A man wielding a sword attacked members of the public and police officers in a east London suburb Tuesday, killing a 14-year-old boy and injuring four others, British authorities said.
Police said the 14-year-old died in the hospital from his injuries. Two police officers were in hospital being treated for stab wounds. Two other people were also injured.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner Ade Adelekan said police do not believe there is a threat to the wider community. This incident does not appear to be terror-related.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the incident was shocking," adding: Such violence has no place on our streets.
