Scaffolding finally removed from Willesden Green tube station after two-year blockage
Briefly

The scaffolding outside Willesden Green tube station, installed in May 2023 due to risks from stonework, has been removed after two years. Initial removal plans were delayed due to urgent engineering needs elsewhere by Transport for London (TfL). Local councillors and residents expressed frustration over blocked pedestrian access and the blight on the high street caused by the scaffolding. Following its removal on 4th August, further maintenance includes replacing removed coping stones, and the station can now rent out an empty retail unit.
"The scaffolding had been blocking the pavement ever since, and there have been repeated calls by local councillors, the MP and residents to have it removed."
"For over a year, this has been a serious blight on the high street, and residents were rightly frustrated about blocked pedestrian access and growing anti-social behaviour in an already congested area."
