In 2024, London's underground stations faced significant issues with pickpocketing, with King's Cross St Pancras leading in reported offences. A request for information from Bounce.com revealed that nearly 14,000 incidents of pickpocketing occurred throughout train stations. Other top locations included Oxford Circus and Finsbury Park. Experts advise travelers to take precautions, as thieves often collaborate using distraction tactics, and suggest staying alert especially in crowded areas to protect personal belongings during transit.
According to an FoI request by luggage storage network Bounce.com to the British Transport Police, just under 14,000 pickpocketing offences were recorded in train stations under its jurisdiction in 2024.
Cody Candee, CEO and founder of Bounce.com, said: "Train stations are some of the busiest public spaces, making them a prime target for opportunistic thieves."
