A fire at a scrap metal recycling yard in Erith, south-east London, has prompted authorities to advise residents to keep windows and doors shut. Approximately 80 firefighters and 12 engines responded to the incident, which began early Saturday morning. The fire is generating considerable smoke, moving towards Dartford. The cause remains unknown, and around 400 tonnes of scrap metal are involved. Fire crews are expected to be on site for most of the day to control the blaze.
