Residents unveil giant 'animated' mural
Briefly

In Walthamstow, East London, a six-storey mural named the Priory Court Unity Banner has been unveiled. Created by street artist INSA with input from local residents, the mural reflects the heritage and stories of the community. Inspired by the area's connections to the sewing trade and artist William Morris, the artwork also highlights the diverse backgrounds of local residents. A unique feature of this mural is its augmented reality aspect, bringing it to life through a viewer app. Community engagement was key, with residents participating in workshops and discussions to develop the mural's themes.
Mustafa, a trainee mural assistant, said it "meant a lot" to him to work on the project. "I learned a lot of things, a lot of skills I didn't know about before."
Ibrahim, who helped produce the work, said he thought it would make the community "stronger and more connected". "I think the mural is absolutely incredible. You can just look at it and you can see that it tells a wonderful story."
