A Morrisons supermarket in East London has been temporarily closed due to a serious rat and mouse infestation, prompting a hygiene emergency prohibition notice from Waltham Forest Council.
Waltham Forest Council's food safety and hygiene team reported that the cleaning standards at the Chingford Store were very poor and welcomed the swift response for pest control.
Khevyn Limbajee from the council indicated that a court hearing regarding the situation is imminent and emphasized the importance of food hygiene regulations.
Morrisons spokesperson stated that pest control is actively addressing the issues with Rentokil on site, but no specific reopening date has been provided yet.
